Progressive Women’s meet at WH museum

The Progressive Women’s Association met at the recently reopened White Hall Museum for its monthly meeting and luncheon. Louise LaGrone’s food group hostessed the luncheon, which featured barbecue pork sandwiches. The tables were decorated in a patriotic decor.

Altheimer native to release second novel

Altheimer native Brenda A. White, author of “The Best I Have to Offer,” is set to release her sophomore novel, “The Final Offer” on Tuesday, June 16, in paperback format on her website www.brendaawhite.com and eBook format on Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook.

Fifth-grader receives academic recognition from president

Nashira Bell, an honor student at William Jefferson Clinton Elementary School in Sherwood, was awarded the Certificare of Meritorious Academic Achievement from the desk of the President of the United State of America, Barack Obama, along with a letter from the president expressing his sincere congratulations for her hard work. She also received a congratulatory letter from the United States Department of Education in Washington, D.C.
