Willing Workers of White Hall EHC brightens the halls of nursing home

Members of the Willing Workers of White Hall Extension Homemakers Club made wreaths out of plastic bags several years ago for the doors of all the rooms at White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The members covered them with flowers and would change out the ribbons for different holidays or seasons and add to the wreaths. Last year the group decided it was time to get new wreaths so it changed to grapevine wreaths and just recently added 10 more so each room would have a wreath.

In February, they were decorated with Valentines, then shamrocks were hung. For Easter there were plastic eggs hanging with ribbons on the wreaths. After Easter, the egg decorations were taken down and pinwheels or butterflies were added to the wreaths. For Flag Day through July 4th, flags were attached to the wreaths.

Catherine Atkinson is chairman of the wreath committee, with Sarah Payton and Sara Hester assisting her.

Willing Workers of White Hall EHC meets each month on the fourth Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the White Hall Library. Guests are welcome. To learn more about Extension Homemakers, contact any club member or Mary Ann Kizer at 870-534-1033.
