The Department of Music at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will present Calvin Martin, percussionist, in a graduating recital at 8 p.m. Thursday in the auditorium of the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts building.
Martin is a native of Chicago, Ill., and attended Thornwood High School. While enrolled at the university, he was section leader for three years for the Marching Musical Machine of the Mid-South and a member of the Jazz Ensemble and Wind Symphony. Martin is also a member of Kappa Kappa Psi Band Fraternity.
The recital will include “Furioso and Valse in D Minor” by Earl Hatch, “Sonata for Timpani” by John Beck, and “Hit N Run” by John Whitlock. Additional compositions by Chris Potter, Mario Gaetano and Tommy Igoe will also be performed.
Martin is the son of Calvin and Vanessa Martin of Chicago.
