Star City students’ artwork included in regional show


Artwork of Star City School District students from Jimmy Brown Elementary School and Star City High School is included in the 2014 Southeast Arkansas Regional Art Show at the University of Arkansas at Monticello sponsored by the Arkansas Art Educators Association.

The artwork will be on display in the Spencer Gallery at the Fine Arts Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello through April 6. A reception and awards ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. April 6. The public is invited to attend.

The 2014 Southeast Arkansas K-12 Student Art Exhibit includes artwork from students in kindergarten through 12th grade in schools in Jefferson, Cleveland, Lincoln, Desha, Calhoun, Drew, Bradley, Union, Ashley and Chicot counties.

The exhibit includes original works of art created by 20 Star City School District students from Jimmy Brown Elementary School and Star City High School.

Jimmy Brown Elementary School students with artwork included in the exhibit include: Jaci Hoyt and KyLeigh Green, kindergarten; Presley Story, first grade; Bryleigh Myers and Tyler Crews, second grade; Perla Mondragon and JaQuel Callaway, third grade; River Patton and Caleb Mullikan, fourth grade; and Annalin Weast, fifth grade. The students are under the instruction of art teacher, Suzi Davis.

Star City High School students with artwork in the exhibit include: Madison Brown, Katie McTigrit and Caleb Walker, ninth grade; Emily Patrick, 10th grade; Anna Hartsfield, 11th grade; Haley Bishop, Aubrey Gill, Alexis Magana, Colton Rudder and Morgan Taylor, 12th grade.

The Star City High School students are under the instruction of art teacher, Roger Darren High.
