Saracen Landing will be the site of “Saracen Sunday”, an afternoon concert of blues, soul and blues-rock on the lake at the pavilion, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 7.
Scheduled performers will include Gary Wilson & the Untouchables and Dave Sadler.
Wilson, a longtime Pine Bluff and accomplished musician, cut his teeth on the likes of B.B. King, Little Milton (with whom he later toured), James Brown, Otis Redding and many others. He worked his way through high school and college as a veterinary assistant and playing guitar with the Zodiacs, an R&B band. His musical education includes Tennessee State, Julliard School of Music and the Berkley School of Fine Arts. He also owns and operates GMW Productions, a sound and lighting event production company.
Sadler, a guitarist and local architect, records and produces music for the independent label, BluezArt Records. His playing style is a blend of blues, rock, jazz and funk, utilizing both electric and acoustic guitars. Music by Sadler has been featured on numerous radio programs and can be found in various production music libraries, advertisements, videos, films and PR campaigns. Sadler is currently working on a CD entitled “Matchbox” due to be released this fall.
Those attending the concert are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Food vendors will be on site. Cost of admission is $5.
The concert is sponsored by Pine Bluff Parks and Recreation. The objective of “Saracen Sunday” is to provide cool entertainment on an end-of-the-summer’s evening on the banks of Lake Saracen in Pine Bluff.
