Members and guests of the Progressive Women’s Association met recently at the Relyance Bank in White Hall for their monthly meeting and birthday celebration.
This was the group’s 35th birthday celebration and Alice Erwin baked the birthday cake.
Linda Eifling, president, conducted the business session of the meeting.
Correspondence consisted of thank yous for the gift cards sent to Skippy Ussery and Bonnie Rhodes. The group decided to bring non-perishable food items for Neighbor-to-Neighbor to its next meeting. A day trip was planned by Jan Adam, travel chairman.
Adam presented the program showing the awards her father had received in World War II. Her father, Warren Holland, grew up during the Depression.
He was awarded the Bronze Star during World War II and never mentioned it. Lt. Col. Steven Gray of the United States Air Force came to Cycle and Marine Supercenter to make a presentation of the Bronze Star and other medals Holland had received during World War II.
The dollar pot was won by Sydney Foster, granddaughter of member, Betsy Foster.
The group distributed the gifts which everyone had brought for exchange by playing “Dirty Santa.”
