Members and guests of the Progressive Women’s Association met recently at the Relyance Bank White Hall branch for their monthly meeting and luncheon.
Margie Murphy was the chairman of the food group which consisted of Murphy, Louise LaGrone, Nancy Rosen, Brenda Doucey and Delois Dilbeck. Chicken spaghetti was the main dish and the room was decorated in a Valentine decor.
Linda Eifling, president, conducted the business session. All scholarship recipients have reported their grades. The group will have an auction at its March meeting to help fund the scholarship recipients. Money has been received from ad and scholarship donors.
The members voted to continue bringing non-perishable food items for the White Hall Food Pantry as a community service project.
Dilbeck spoke on the organization’s recent trip to Shreveport, La. Everyone enjoyed meeting Diane Kunowski, sister-in-law of member, Jan Adam. She accompanied the group in eating at Copelands at the Boardwalk. King cake cheesecake was enjoyed by everyone for dessert. After shopping at the Boardwalk, the group drove to Belks for more shopping. Cracker Barrel was the destination for dinner and a little more shopping. Those making this trip were Adam, Rosen, Murphy, Dilbeck, Eifling and Betsy Foster.
Georgia LaGrave auctioned off the birthday gifts and they were won by Jean Upshaw and Ann Douthit. Bonnie Rhodes won the dollar pot and donated it back to the organization. LaGrave and Joy Lawrence won door prizes.
Guests at the meeting were Lawrence, Nicoluza Juarez and Maria Love. Love joined the organization.
