Pine Bluff Art League to meet Sunday

Pat Sheffield, a Pine Bluff Art League member and retired art instructor for the Pine Bluff and Star City school districts, will be the guest speaker for the league meeting, which will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the A/B meeting room of the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave.

Sheffield will demonstrate the use of oil pastels as well as some of her artwork.

There will be a drawing for a framed “dreamscape” art tile and light refreshments will be served before the business meeting.

Members will be asked to vote on artwork from the middle and junior high schools from the Pine Bluff area for the second annual “Top of the Middle” art exhibition. A reception for the artists and their families will be held April 13 at the Reynolds Building. Details will be provided when the winner is announced.

Byron Gregory and Vickie Coleman will be the display artists for the month of April.

Sign-up sheets will be available at the meeting for the following upcoming workshops:

• April 14 — “Paint along with Shirley” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the A/B room. Paint with Shirley as she instructs a Yarnell painting of a Tuscan landscape. The workshop is free to paid members. Lunch will be Dutch Treat but drinks will be provided.

• April 18 — Gerry Delongchamp will be instructing an all-day Zentangle Workshop in the league studio. The cost is $20.

• May 5 — Shirley Dawson will lead an “Image Capture Tour” for photography members of the areas around Jefferson County. Members will meet at the Reynolds building at 9 a.m. and carpool to the different sites. Lunch will be held at the Big Orange in Redfield. The tour will be end at approximately 2 p.m. The workshop is free to paid members.

• May 8-9 — Well-known artist Richard Stephens will conduct a two-day watercolor workshop. The cost is $75.
