“Holiday Traditions: Music of the Season” will be presented by the Pine Bluff Symphony Orchestra at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Pine Bluff Convention Center Auditorium.
This family-oriented program highlights music traditionally associated with the holiday season, including beloved classical and popular vocal selections from “Ave Maria” to “White Christmas”, favorite Christmas carols, popular orchestral pieces such as “Die Fledermaus Overture”, “Troika (Russian Sleigh) Song”, and “Sleigh Ride”, the annual audience sing-a-long and more.
Special guests include the Arkansas Festival Ballet dancing to excerpts from “The Nutcracker” and the First United Methodist Church of Monticello’s handbell choir ringing “Coventry Carol” and “Carol of the Bells”. Soloist will be baritone Matt Soto and Jennifer Fox will be the narrator for “Twas the Night Before Christmas” with the orchestra.
This is the 27th season for the symphony and the 22nd year that Charles Jones Evans has served as the conductor. Support for PBSO is provided in part by the Arkansas Arts Council, an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Tickets may be obtained in advance by calling the PBSO office at 870-536-7666. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door the afternoon of the concert. Prices are preferred seating: adults $30, students (K-12) $12; and general seating: adults $25, students (K-12) $8.
