PBHS to present annual Black History program

Pine Bluff High School History Club will present its annual Black History program at 9:45 a.m. Friday in McFadden Gym.

The featured guest will be The Mablevale Drum & Groove Ensemble. The ensemble was formed in 2004 by its director, Frank Williams. The group includes 24 fourth and fifth-grade students who are widely known for their high, energetic syncopated performances. They have traveled extensively throughout Arkansas and other states and performed for the Power to End Stroke Gospel tour that was hosted by Bobby Jones of Black Entertainment Television (BET). They also opened up for recording artist Vicki Winans. The ensemble has been featured in numerous media outlets and publications, and was recently featured in a documentary sponsored by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock communications department.

The event will also include performances and presentations from PBHS students.
