The Pine Bluff High School Class of 1974 will host its 40th-year class reunion beginning with registration from 4-6 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Pine Bluff High School Cafeteria.
The following activities will all be held at the Waterfront Facility in Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Regional Park:
Aug. 29: ’70s Dance will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Aug. 30: Class picnic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Banquet from 7 p.m. to midnight. The attire for the banquet will be semi-formal.
The keynote speaker for the banquet will be Dr. Kweli Tutashinda, a 1974 graduate of PBHS. Tutashinda, formerly known as Brian P. Altheimer, is a chiropractic physician, teacher, activist/consultant and independent scholar. In private practice since 1989, his Imhotep Chiropractic & Wellness Center has served Berkeley, Calif., Oakland, Calif., and the bay area, providing chiropractic and holistic health care.
Tutashinda teaches English in the Upward Bound Program at Mills College in Oakland. The author of seven books, he graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He earned a doctor of chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College West. He is married with four adult children and lives in the bay area in northern California.
A worship service will conclude the weekend on Aug. 31 at Highland Baptist Church, 1320 S. Peach St.
