Gerry DeLongchamp, local artist and art teacher, will begin a series of beginning painting classes from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Pine Bluff Art League studio in the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave., Suite 108.
Assisting DeLongchamp will be Markeith Woods. DeLongchamp and Woods are both former winners at the Art League’s annual exhibit, but their art styles are interestingly very different.
DeLongchamp paints with an expressionistic style, full of details added to her fluid washes and textures. Woods incorporates unusual colors to make artistic portrait statements about people in his life.
There have been numerous requests in the past few years for Saturday classes so that people who work will have a chance to pursue their interest in art, according to a league spokesman.
The classes are scheduled for each Saturday through Dec. 7. The classes are open to the public and cost $10 per session, payable on the day of each session.
Participants may bring acrylic paints if they already have them, but the studio has paints and surface materials to use. Students should have two to three acrylic paint brushes and paper towels.
