The New Community Theatre, 207 W. Second Ave., will officially open its doors Dec. 31 with its New Year’s Gala Show, after two years of renovation and restoration.
Executive Director Jack Stradley said that this, “one of a kind theatre will be unparallel as to variety shows presented. Inspired by the legacy of Vaudeville, we hope to invoke its spirit in part through contemporary entertainment. With illusions and glamour, good taste and great talent, we will create show business magic for our audiences,” he said.
The premiere opening show Jan. 17 will star the iconic comedian Marty Allen – funny man of stage, television and screen. Added to the season will be 11 shows for children presented every Saturday at 11 a.m., starting in February, by the nationally known storyteller, Larry Sullivan.
Old Town Theatres Centre, a not-for-profit organization, sponsors the New Community Theatre shows. Show time is 7:30 p.m. Matinees will be shown at 3 p.m.
The dress code at the theatre is casual, but conservative when in doubt. For ticket information call 870-535-2646 or visit the website pbcommunitytheatre.org
