Mayor tells P.E.O. members she is optimistic about PB’s future

P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) Chapter AU/BZ recently met in the home of Marji Heart. Marsha Rogers and Cristie Greenich served as hostesses.

President Jo Neal called the meeting to order with 33 members attending.

Mayor Debe Hollingsworth presented the program. She said her goal was to give Pine Bluff a “makeover” by getting the City Council and the people to work together. Two areas of concerns are the reduction of crime and the improvement of the educational system. A marketing consulting firm is helping to capitalize on the city’s strengths and weaknesses. She asked that the group pray for the city. She said the city’s fire and police departments are second to none.

Hollingsworth also spoke about several projects she is working on for the good of Pine Bluff, such as the Broken Window Project, which would make the city’s housing areas more attractive and safe. She is both optimistic and enthusiastic concerning the future of Pine Bluff.

Following the program, items brought by members were raffled, earning the club $32.

The group’s next meeting will be held at the Pine Bluff Country Club.
