Faith Worship Center, 801 W. Sixth Ave., will be the setting for a book release party for Monica Meadors-Shorter, a Pine Bluff native and author of “My Journey to God,” from 6-8 p.m. Saturday.
“My Journey to God” gives a detailed description of Meador-Shorter’s life growing up in Pine Bluff, her struggles as a child, her adult life in the states of Alabama and Georgia and how she gained unshakable faith in God.
Meadors-Shorter is the daughter of Elizabeth Irby-Shelton and Leon Shorter and the granddaughter of Richard and Helen Irby and Curlee and Earline Shorter. She is a 1993 graduate of Dollarway High School and confessed a hope in Christ at Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Walter C. May, who is now pastor of Kings Highway Baptist Church. The book also describes the impact May and his family had on her life growing up.
“My Journey to God” may be purchased from the Createspace E-store or Amazon.com. There will also be a limited number of books available for purchase on the day of the event.
The public is invited to attend.
