Pine Bluff Christian Women’s Connection will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Pine Bluff Country Club.
Mary Ann Kizer, University of Arkansas, Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Service, family and consumer sciences agent, will provide the special feature and discuss the Extension Service’s new wellness initiative — “Get Fit”.
Kizer focuses on four program areas — foods and nutrition, health and wellness, parenting and child care, and financial management. She serves as the Jefferson County Extension Homemakers adviser. Kizer is Catholic Daughters of the Americas national director for Colorado, Oklahoma and Arkansas. She obtained a master of education degree from the University of Arkansas and a bachelor of arts in teaching from Sam Houston State University.
The Stonecroft speaker, Polly Maines of Carthage, Texas, will present her topic “Getting from Once Upon a Time to Happy Ever After.”
Maines holds a bachelor’s as well as a master’s degree in social work from Stephen F. Austin State University. She has worked for the same non-profit hospice agency for almost 11 years. She started as field social worker with the company, but after successfully developing the company’s first alternate delivery site, she now works as one of the company directors. She spends time giving back to the community by actively participating in her local Lion’s Club and Chamber Ambassador Program. She also serves as a field instructor for college students wanting to complete their social work internships in hospice settings.
The cost of the luncheon is $13.50, which includes meal, tax and gratuity. To make reservations or cancellations, contact Mary Bearden at 870-489-4710. For more information about Pine Bluff Christian Women’s Connection or Stonecroft Ministries, visit www.stonecroft.org.
