Local artist to speak at Art League meeting Sunday

Local artist Gerry Delongchamp of White Hall will be the guest speaker for the meeting of the Pine Bluff Art League from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Building, 211 W. Third Ave.

A longtime member of the art league, Delongchamp will teach a program on Zentangle, a form of art that is both relaxing and stimulating for those who have hit a creative block or those who have hesitated to become involved in art because they thought it was too difficult. Delongchamp will pass out pens and paper so those in attendance will be able to try their hand at an art form that has suddenly become very popular. All supplies will be provided. Anyone interested in art is welcome to attend and participate in the program.

There will be light refreshments before the program and a $1 raffle for artwork supplied by a member of the league. Proceeds will benefit the PBAL.

Delongchamp, who is also gallery chairman, has asked members to bring fresh art to be displayed in the gallery for March through June. The yearly fundraiser has gotten underway and members are asked to come and paint tiles on Tuesdays to help prepare for the Camden Daffodil Show and various other venues through this coming year.

Dues for the current year are still being accepted for $40, which entitles members to all services at the art league at free or reduced charges.

A brief meeting will be held following the program. For more information, contact Inis Ray, president at 870-536-3354 or 870-718-4726.
