In celebration of Black History Month, the Pine Bluff Chapter of Links Inc. will host an opening reception for the exhibit, “Jimmy McKissic: Road to Carnegie Hall”, from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Pine Bluff-Jefferson County Historical Museum, 201 E. Fourth Ave.
Donors and lenders to the exhibit have provided objects from their personal collections to be exhibited at the Historical Museum. Several of McKissic’s performance outfits will be seen, his personally annotated sheet music and family photographs. A film of one of McKissic’s performances will be playing and much more.
The exhibit formally opens to the public on Feb. 19. On Feb. 19-21, family and friends of McKissic will be available at 1 p.m. each day as lecturers to talk about the McKissic they knew. This is a special presentation offered only for those three days. The exhibit will be on display through July.
