The class of 1964 of Glendale High School met recently at the fish house in The Village at Star City to renew old friendships, reminisce and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their graduation.
Seven of the original 11 class members were in attendance — Ronnie and Barbara (Beard) Burnett of Lebanon, Mo.; Jackie (Andrews) Tubbs, Carolyn (Jacks) Simmons and Wanda (Weeks) Montgomery, all of Pine Bluff; Ronnie Johnson of Beebe; and Shirley (Weatherford) Parker of Star City. Ernie Carnes of Thomasville, N.C. was unable to attend.
Guests included Charel Tubbs, Jalynn (Stevenson) Johnson, Don Montgomery, and Gavin and Aubrey Parker.
Three of the class members have died since graduation. Mark Stevenson was killed in Vietnam in 1967. Maxie Austin was murdered in 1986 by an intruder in the study of the church where he was pastoring and Russell Carnes (Buddy Gene) succumbed to cancer in 2012.
