An exhibition of mixed-media drawings by Delita Martin recently opened at the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas in the Kennedy Gallery.
The exhibit, “I Come From Women Who Could Fly”, will remain on display at the center through Aug. 31. Martin’s work layers print, paper, drawing, and thread while melding her memories and experiences as well as the re-imagined memories and experiences of the women of her family. The large, evocative pieces transmit reinterpreted folk tales and tactile creative traditions to channel the women who inspired the series. Martin will speak about her work at the exhibition’s

Martin will also teach a free gelatin printmaking workshop during ASC’s second Saturday Family FunDay from 1 to 3 p.m. June 14. Participants will learn a fun printmaking process and several techniques to create their own unique prints
