This is a listing of activities of interest to residents of Southeast Arkansas. Anyone who would like to submit entries for consideration may do so in writing to the Entertainment Calendar, P.O. Box 6469, Pine Bluff, Ark., 71611. Since all activities are subject to change, it would be wise to confirm the activity with the sponsoring organization.
22 — Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, 9238 Sulphur Springs Road, will hold its monthly Senior Adult Day at 10 a.m. in the church’s Christian Community Center. There will be a potluck luncheon with games and prizes. Participants are asked to bring their favorite dish and enjoy the fellowship. There is no charge for admission and all ages are invited to attend. Details: Call Judy Hall at 870-718-9675.
23 — “Joel”, a biography written by Joel Sonnerberg and Greg Lewis, will be reviewed at 10 a.m. the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church, 6501 Hazel St. The review will be presented by Lisa Grigg, a native of Camden. The public is invited to attend and door prizes and refreshments will be furnished.
23 — The alumni members of Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi and Phi Beta Sigma fraternities have joined together to present the second annual Fraternity Unity Festival from 3 to 8 p.m. at Saracen Landing. Admission is free. Food and drink tickets will be available for purchase for $1.
23 — The officers of the Pine Bluff Police Department will show youth ages 15 and under and senior citizens a fishing good time from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Martin Luther King Jr. Park. There will be fish, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, games and bounce houses. Participants are asked to bring their own fishing equipment.
28 — Shirley Anderson, an award-winning pastel artist from Hot Springs Village, will conduct a one-day workshop as part of a continuing effort by the Pine Bluff Art League to offer quality art workshops and promote art awareness and growth in the Pine Bluff area. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the A&B meeting room of the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave. The cost for the workshop will be $60. Interested individuals must sign up and prepay for this workshop.
29-31 — The Pine Bluff High School Class of 1974 will host its 40th-year class reunion beginning with registration from 4-6 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Pine Bluff High School Cafeteria. The following activities will all be held at the Waterfront Facility in Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Regional Park: Aug. 29: ’70s Dance will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight. Aug. 30: Class picnic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Banquet from 7 p.m. to midnight. The attire for the banquet will be semi-formal. A worship service will conclude the weekend on Aug. 31 at Highland Baptist Church, 1320 S.
