Box 6469, Pine Bluff, Ark., 71611. Since all activities are subject to change, it would be wise to confirm the activity with the sponsoring organization.
15-16 — The New Community Theatre, 207 W. Second Ave., will present Bobby Brooks Wilson, the son of the legendary R&B singer, Jackie Wilson, singing songs from his recently released CD. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. each day. Tickets are $25 per person and can be bought at the box office starting at 5 p.m. on the day of the performance or can be purchased online at www.pbcommunitytheatre.org. 16 — The Pine Bluff Black Fire Fighters Association will present Project Fresh Start from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. The event will include free food and entertainment.
19 — The AARP Smart Driver Safety Program, developed by AARP, will be offered from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Aug. 19 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, 1600 W. 40th Ave. The cost of the course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members, payable to AARP at the time of the class. To pre-register for the class, call 870-247-4898. The class will be limited to 35 participants.
28 — Shirley Anderson, an award-winning pastel artist from Hot Springs Village, will conduct a one-day workshop as part of a continuing effort by the Pine Bluff Art League to offer quality art workshops and promote art awareness and growth in the Pine Bluff area. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the A&B meeting room of the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave. The cost for the workshop will be $60.
