Calendar of events


This is a listing of activities of interest to residents of Southeast Arkansas. Anyone who would like to submit entries for consideration may do so in writing to the Entertainment Calendar, P.O. Box 6469, Pine Bluff, Ark., 71611. Since all activities are subject to change, it would be wise to confirm the activity with the sponsoring organization.

August

8 — Crossroads Christian Fellowship, 3901 Camden Road, will host a free movie night featuring “Heaven Is For Real” beginning at 7 p.m. A potluck fellowship will begin at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

9 — The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas will host the second Saturday Family FunDay from 1-3 p.m. Visiting artist, Tim Jacob, will demonstrate landscape painting with acrylics.

9 — Christine Stamps-White will hold a book signing at 8 a.m. at The Bargain Barn, located at Fourth Avenue and Blake Street. The book signing will include White’s books, “On the Outside Looking In” and “Inside Looking Out.” In her books she talks about her life experiences and how she overcomes obstacles. Other authors who will be in attendance include Ericka Johnson-Reams and Cleopatra Kaine. The books will also be available for purchase.

9 — The First Trinity Church of God in Christ Mission Department will host a “Celebration of Life” honoring its pastor, DeWitt Hill Jr., for 85 years of life and legacy at 6 p.m. at Harbor Oaks Restaurant in Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Regional Park. Tickets are $85 per person. Individual tickets or table sponsorships are available. For tickets call 870-534-2873 or 870-879-1177. Proceeds from this event will benefit local and foreign missions.

14 — The annual Pine Bluff Art League Juried Exhibition will open at the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas. A reception will be held from 5-7 p.m., with prizes to be awarded at 5:30. 16 — The Pine Bluff Black Fire Fighters Association will present Project Fresh Start from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. The event will include free food and entertainment.
