This is a listing of activities of interest to residents of Southeast Arkansas. Anyone who would like to submit entries for consideration may do so in writing to the Entertainment Calendar, P.O. Box 6469, Pine Bluff, Ark., 71611. Since all activities are subject to change, it would be wise to confirm the activity with the sponsoring organization.
4 — The Pine Bluff Festival Association and the Pine Bluff Parks and Recreation Department are teaming up to host the Independence Day celebration. Children’s activities and food vendors will open at 5 p.m. Live entertainment, sponsored by MK Distributors, will begin at 6 p.m. Musical performances will be held throughout the evening, capped off at 9 p.m. by south Arkansas’ largest fireworks display, sponsored by Simmons First National Bank, Relyance Bank and the Pine Bluff Festival Association. 4-6 — The C.P. Coleman High School will celebrate its 11th All School Reunion. All activities will be held at Prince Hall Grand Masonic Lodge, 2906 E. Harding Ave. A meet/greet registration will be held July 4 beginning at 11:30 a.m. with a barbecue to follow. On July 5 there will be a business meeting at 10 a.m. and a banquet/dance at 6 p.m. On Sunday, a memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a worship service at 11 a.m. A farewell picnic will be held immediately following the worship service. 5 — Nature Crafts will be held at 1 p.m. at the Delta Rivers Nature Center. Children will have the opportunity to make a tree cookie necklace that they can take home and wear. All materials will be provided.
6 — Saracen Sunday, a concert sponsored by Pine Bluff Parks and Recreation, will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the Brian Austin Band and On Call Band. Vendors will also be on site. Admission will be $5 per person at the gate. For more information, call 870-536-0920.
6 — The Pine Bluff Art League will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the A/B Room at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave. Attendees are asked to use the Third Avenue entrance. These meetings are free and open to the public. Anyone interested in the arts is encouraged to attend. 11-12 — Craig Diamond, magician, will be live on stage at the New Community Theatre, 207 W. 12-13 — Shooters from the region will meet at the archery range of Pine Bluff Bowhunters Inc. to compete in 13 divisions during the 34th annual Ben Pearson Memorial Tournament. Thousands of dollars in door prizes, as well as prizes for the winners of several different novelty shoots, will be handed out. Entry fees are $40 Pro Division; $20, Adult Division; $10, Youth Division. Excluding pro competitors, there is a maximum of $50 for immediate family members.
