Attorney general candidate speaks at Democratic Women meeting

The Jefferson County Democratic Women recently held their August meeting in the Garden Room of the Holiday Inn Express at The Pines mall.

Nate Steel, candidate for state attorney general, was introduced to a standing-room-only crowd. Steel is an attorney and lifelong resident of Nashville, Ark. He emphasized his commitment to continued service to the state. He addressed the issues of prison overcrowding and establishing means to ease the situation through drug courts and hope courts. Combating cyber crime will also be one of his priorities. Following his presentation, he answered questions from the audience.

During the business meeting, Zelda Hoaglan, president, discussed holding an event to honor the three women candidates for state office: Karen Garcia, state treasurer; Susan Inman, secretary of state; and Regina Stewart-Hampton, state auditor. A planning meeting was set to held at the Democratic Headquarters in Jefferson Square.
