Well-known Arkansas artist, Richard Stephens, will conduct a workshop, “Watercolor with Passion and Humor”, for the Pine Bluff Art League from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave.
In the workshop, participants will be exposed to three main things — informative technical information sprinkled with humor and antidotes, entertaining and educational painting demos and lots of one on one with Stephens as he helps participants through their individual painting process.
A native of Hot Springs, Stephens earned a bachelor’s degree in art from the University of Central Arkansas in 1969. He served as an illustrator in the Army and after leaving the Army, began his professional career in 1971 with a design firm in Little Rock. He now devotes his time to his passion by teaching many watercolor workshops across the country each year. He has been featured in Watercolor Magic as one of 10 artists in their annual “One’s to Watch” 2005 edition, as well as having articles and paintings published in numerous art magazines and books. In 2006, 2009 and 2012 he won the Gold Award in the Mid-Southern Watercolor Society annual show.
The cost of the two-day workshop is $75. There are still a few spaces available. For more information on this workshop and a supply list, call Pat Sheffield at 870-879-3037 or 501-620-3568.
