AKA supports Golden Lions, promotes health initiative

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Delta Omega Omega Chapter used one activity to multi-task.

Delta Omega Omega demonstrated Lion Fever as they tailgated for the second University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions home football game. The ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha passed out health literature and promotional grab bags educating game-goers on the dangers of second-hand smoke and the deadly role smoke plays in the lives of asthmatics.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Delta Omega Omega Chapter is committed to community service and answered the call of the sorority’s International Program Health Initiative by teaching asthma awareness to Arkansans while feeding Golden Lion fans at the tailgate party. More than 120 people visited the booth/tailgate.

According to Toni McCastle, chapter vice president and program chair, “our chapter is indeed grateful to the Arkansas Department of Health and UAPB Minority Initiative Sub-Recipient Grant Office for providing health literature and promotional items.”

Terri Jackson is chapter president and Somer Pridgeon is the health initiative chairman.
