Leonard and Ethel Higgins celebrate 50 years of marriage

Higgins Leonard Higgins and Ethel Trice Higgins recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple celebrated their 50th anniversary in the 50th state, Hawaii. The couple was married Aug. 28, 1963. They are the parents of Darryl L. Higgins and Kevin L. Higgins, both of Pine Bluff. They have 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The anniversary dinner at their home on Sept. 2 had about 40 guests.

Earl and Ruth Graham celebrate 66th wedding anniversary

Graham Earl and Ruth Graham of Pine Bluff recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. The Grahams were married in Fort Worth on Aug. 29, 1947, and moved to Pine Bluff in 1957. They are the parents of Bobby (Lydia) Graham of Corpus Christi, Texas, Denise (Jimmy) Grace of Pine Bluff, Dalene Graham of Hot Springs, Zack (Rhonda) Graham of Royal and the late Beverly Ray of El Dorado. Mr. and Mrs. Graham have eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Benny and Billie Wilson to celebrate 60th anniversary

Wilson The 60th anniversary celebration for Benny Jack and Billie Sue Wilson will be held on July 21 from 2-4 p.m. at Good-Faith Carr United Methodist Church. They were married July 18, 1952, at Natchez, Miss. Family and friends are welcome to the reception, hosted by their children, Rick (Cam) Wilson and Darlene (Mike) Stephenson, both of Monticello, Steve (Sheila) Wilson of Mansfield, La., and Jackie (Mark) Garner of Grapevine; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandsons.

Homer and Lela Reed to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Reed WOODLAWN — Homer Allen and Lela (Case) Reed will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 8. A reception will be held Sunday, July 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Center Baptist Church. The reception will be hosted by their children, Greg and Cindy Reed and Tracy Reed and grandchildren. Friends and relatives are invited. The couple requests no gifts, please.

Terry and Nicole Brown to renew wedding vows

Brown In celebration of 10 years of marriage, Terry and Nicole Brown will host a renewal of wedding vows ceremony at 3 p.m. Saturday at Newbirth Baptist Church, 401 E. Fifth Ave. The couple was married May 3, 2002, at Pine Bluff, and has three children. Nicole is the daughter of Floyd and Marilyn Crater, and Freddie Hunter, all of Altheimer. Her grandparents are Leorn and Berlene Alexander, and Dorothy Hunter, all of Altheimer. She is a graduate of Altheimer High School and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with a bachelor of arts degree in English. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Nicole is currently employed as the Accent editor at the Pine Bluff Commercial. Terry is the son of the late Norphlett Terry Brown II and Vernastine Brown Henderson. His grandparents are Thelmon Williams of Altheimer and the late Helen Williams, and Freddie and Irene Lusk of Memphis. He is a graduate of Altheimer High School and attended Mid-Plains Community College at North Platte, Neb. He is the pastor of Newbirth Baptist Church and a student at Missionary Baptist Seminary at Little Rock. He is also employed by Evergreen Packaging. Friends and family are invited to attend the ceremony.

Howard and Marilyn Owen celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Owen Howard and Marilyn Owen of Pine Bluff recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple enjoyed a weekend of celebration on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The event was attended by close friends and hosted by their children, Richard of Minneapolis, Minn., and Tana of Ocean Springs, Miss. Marilyn is the daughter of the late Paul and Edna Holder. Howard is the son of the late Herman and Evelyn Owen. They met by chance while each was vacationing in New Orleans, La., with their own friends. They were married on Feb. 17, 1962, in West Frankfort, Ill. Howard worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad until his retirement. For many years, Howard was very involved with the Pine Bluff Boys Club, coaching the Blue Jays football and basketball teams. Marilyn is retired from the Pine Bluff school system. They are both active members at Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church.

John and Shirley Jacob celebrate 50 years of marriage

Jacob On Saturday, Jan. 21, John and Shirley Jacob had a golden time as they celebrated their 50-year anniversary with family and friends. The day began with them renewing their vows at St. Peter Catholic Church and ended with a scrumptious luncheon. There were over 100 in attendance, including two of John's sisters, Mary Finley and Rosina Joffrion from Pineville, La., and his niece, U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley from Lafayette, La. The event was orchestrated by their two daughters, Michelle Jacob from Dallas, Texas, and Linda Richardson from White Hall. John and Shirley's grandchildren, J.B., Alexis, Myles, Michael and John, and great-granddaughter, Haylee Nicole, were also in attendance.
