McClary and Yvonne Merritt celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Merritt: McClary and Yvonne Merritt of Pine Bluff, Ark., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a beautiful anniversary party on July 11, 2014, at 6 p.m. at Harbor Oaks Golf Course.

The party was hosted by their daughters, Tammie Mooreland of Bartlesville, Okla., and Tena Paul of Tulsa, Okla.

The couple was married in a simple ceremony at the home of Yvonne’s parents on July 12, 1964, in Pine Bluff. Rev. W.C. Burks officiated the ceremony. Best friends, Aaron and Bernice Terry were best man and matron of honor.

Mrs. Merritt is the former Yvonne Summers, daughter of the late Eris and Elmira Summers. Yvonne retired from the Watson Chapel School District in 2000. She enjoys planning and attending church activities, exercising, shopping and playing on her Ipad.

Mr. Merritt is the son of the late Cornelius and Rosie Merritt. He retired from AP&L in 1995 however, currently owns and operates McClary Merritt’s Hauling and Digging Company. He loves maintaining his garden, piddling in his workshop, four-wheeling, hunting and talking on the phone with his buddies.

The couple has been blessed with four grandchildren, Rachel and Miles Mooreland (Tammie) and Jaxon and Julian Paul (Tena).

The couple have resided in their dream home on Princeton Pike, Pine Bluff, Ark., since 2003.
