Donald and Joanne Borland to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Borland: STAR CITY — Rev. Donald and Joanne (Harris) Borland will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception and program hosted by their children on June 14, 2014, at 2 p.m., at the Star City Civic Center in Star City, Ark. All friends and family are invited to attend. No gifts, please, only your presence, but if you have a favorite picture of or story about the couple, please bring that to share.

The couple was married on June 19, 1964, at the First Assembly of God Church in Star City by the Rev. Temon Jenkins.

Joanne graduated from Star City schools and worked for C&L Electric Cooperative in Star City for 47 years before her retirement in 2001. Don received his schooling from Dumas schools and was a member of the National Guard. He worked for W&A Manufacturing Company in Pine Bluff, Ark., for 15 years and became a pastor in 1971 at Double Wells Assembly of God Church in Pine Bluff, Ark. He has continued to pastor now for 44 years and is the current pastor of Overcoming Faith Worship Center in Star City.

The couple are the parents of Beverly Brown of White Hall, Ark., and Rev. Steve and Shannon Borland of Springdale, Ark. They have six grandchildren: Joshua Brown, Bethany Brown, Kayleigh Borland, Abby Borland, Ryleigh-Kate Borland and Zoey-Grayce Borland.
